Refugee Project launch

16 June 2004

John McDonnell MP is hosting the launch of the Refugee Project, a coalition of groups documenting the links between global economics and enforced migration.

  • Wednesday 16 June 2004, 7.00pm
  • Grand Committee Room, House of Commons, Westminster, London SW1A 0AA

Speakers include:

  • Liz Fekete, Deputy Director Institute of Race Relations
  • Ann Feltham, Campaign Against the Arms Trade
  • Hannah Griffiths, Friends of the Earth
  • Nick Hildyard, The Corner House
  • Jean Lambert, Green Party MEP
  • Baroness Sarah Ludford, Liberal Democrat MEP
  • Pardeep Singh, Defenders of the Environment and Ecology of Punjab.

The Refugee project is a coalition of environmental, human rights and development groups which have been working for the past two years to document such links and provide a platform where refugees can voice their own histories. This work has been brought together in a book, Listen to the Refugee's Story: how UK foreign investment creates refugees and asylum seekers, which highlights the broad links between enforced migration and global economic processes.
