SameBoat Project in the southwest

The SameBoat Project will retrace the sea route of the Atlantic Slave Triangle. The crew will be from Africa, the Caribbean and England.

The project is also creating a series of professionally-led cross-cultural workshops which will result in performances with a touring exhibition to commemorate the bicentenary of the Parliamentary abolition of trans-Atlantic slavery in 1807. These events will take place in the South West harbours of St Austell, Bideford, Plymouth, Exeter and Bristol during Summer 2007.

  • 14-19 July 2007 - rehearse workshop with Plymouth at TR2 chorus of 60 drawn from schools, community colleges and the community from all over the county
  • 21 July 2007 - Plymouth Show and exhibition Barbican harbour
  • 25 July 2007 - Totnes show and exhibition Longmarsh
  • 28 July 2007 - Exeter show and exhibition at the Floating harbour
  • 29 July 2007 - Exeter exhibition.
  • 6 August 2007 - SameBoat sails from Plymouth to Brittany France
