'Time for Questions'

A panel discussion, organised by Bristol students, on the treatment of young asylum seekers.

Students, parents and the wider community will be able to quiz local politicians and experts on the treatment of young asylum seekers and refugees, particularly those held in detention.

  • Alderman Paul Smith - Labour Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Bristol West
  • Jo Benefield - Respect and Bristol Defend the Asylum Seekers Campaign
  • Elinor Harris - Refugee Action
  • Adeela Shafi - Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Bristol East
  • Tim Lezard - National Union of Journalists
  • Rob Wotherspoon - Communication Workers Union
  • Liz Fekete - Institute of Race Relations

The format of 'Time for Questions' will be like the television programme, where the audience will be asked to submit questions to a panel of local politicians and experts. For those who wish to know more about the issues to be discussed, a briefing pack is available with information about children in detention centres as well as general information on asylum and immigration.
