Sweden Democrats (SD)

Led by Mikael Jansson

1.4%
 of the 2002 election votes

Hardcore far-Right party, attempting to distance itself from its past neo-Nazi image. Currently, is having some success and is now Sweden's largest extra-parliamentary party. The SD has no representation in the national parliament buthas increased its representation at a municipality level, from eight to fifty councillors across Sweden.Overall, it has representation in thirty municipalities.

In addition, there is a burgeoning anti-immigration and anti-asylum lobby in Sweden, with growing representation in local and regional government. Such populist parties include New Democracy and Welfare of Scania . The Interest Party of Swedish Retired Persons, which has around 50 council seats across Sweden, now adopts a strident anti-immigration tone.
