UK: Each of the following areas has a whole section devoted to the building of black communities there, looking at different aspects, such as reasons for setllement, the search for jobs, cultural development, and struggles against racist violence. Each place has around 10 screens, featuring a range of stunning photographs, audio interviews and commentary, and video clips. Much more detailed textual information is available on each topic if required.

In addition, there are around 50 general screens on British history, covering such topics as British fascism, immigration laws, early post-war settlement in Britain, black political groups, the black power movement in Britain, racial violence, policing, black workers struggles, the development of a black British identity. Many of these screens have video clips or audio material.

Africa: A timeline covers the history of struggles against racism in Africa from the slave trade through to the era of colonialism from the end of the 1800s, and on to the post-war struggles against European colonial rule. Topics include the nature of colonial rule, through to African participation in the first and second world wars, and the struggles for African independence. The apartheid system and the struggle to abolish it in South Africa is looked at in detail, as is colonial rule in Kenya and Zimbabwe. Animated maps are used to illustrate points.

Caribbean: A timeline covers the history of struggles against racism in the Caribbean from the period of early European conquest and plunder, through to the slave trade, and resistance against it, and later resistance to European colonialism. The focus is on the Caribbean's relationship with Britain. Audio and video material is provided on some topics, and animated maps are used to illustrate some points.

South Asia: A timeline covers the history of British colonialism in the Indian sub-continent and the struggle for freedom. Topics include the economic relationship between Britain and India under colonial rule, the growth of the Indian freedom movement, the 1947 partition, and the legacy of colonialism. Audio and video material is provided on some topics, and animated maps illustrate points.

USA: A timeline covers the history of struggles against racism in the U.S.A. beginning with Columbus' arrival in the Americas, the decimation of Native American population, the importation of African slave labour, the struggle to abolish slavery, the civil rights movement and the black power movement. Audio and video material is provided on many screens, and animated maps are used.

Memories

A timeline covers various aspects of Britain's relations with the rest of the world and struggles against racism through the last 500 years. For example, early European settlement in the Americas, colonialism in Ireland, British settlement in China, the growth of European fascism, the first and second world wars, and the nature of contemporary imperialism.
