• deaths in police, prison and hospital custody
• racial violence
• self-harm and suicides of asylum seekers

Europe

New forms of racism are emerging in Europe and the IRR's research focuses on the most virulent aspects of this, particularly xeno-racism and Islamophobia. This research appears in the IRR's quarterly European Race Bulletin which includes the following subjects:

• national security legislation, religious profiling and the criminalisation of Muslims
• race relations policies and the 'integration debate'
• the influence of anti-immigration movements on the political process
• asylum policies, deportation and the erosion of human rights
• popular racism and racial violence
