Scope: This material comprises newsletters, press releases, flyers, leaflets, circular letters, reports, extracts from Hansard, newspaper cuttings, articles, conference programmes, posters and other ephemera produced by and about black communities in Britain after the Second World War.

The subject headings reflect the research interests of the staff of the Institute of Race Relations and therefore the topics on which the Institute librarian collected and kept information. Original file names have been used wherever possible, although some rearrangement of the material has been necessary to improve coherence.
