Living in bad housing
What proportion of people live in poor housing or living conditions?
The percentage of people living in poor housing is higher for all ethnic minority groups than for their white counterparts.

- Ethnic minority households are almost three times more likely than white households to be in a poor neighbourhood: 27 per cent compared with 10 per cent (ODPM, 2003, English house condition survey, Bulletin no 4).
- The 44 most deprived local authority areas contain proportionally four times as many people from ethnic minority groups as other areas (Cabinet Office 2000).
